Overjoyed About Overalls

IMG_6320-1.JPG

At the beginning of summer I made a list of all the things I wanted to buy before school started and separated the list into two categories; ‘Things I Absolutely Cannot Return to Chicago Without’ and ‘Things I Really Really Want but can Maybe Live Without’. Number one on the ‘Things I Absolutely Cannot Return to Chicago Without’ list was black, skinny jean overalls.

I dreamed of owning black overalls so often that I had mentally factored them into my wardrobe and built hundreds of mental outfits around them by the beginning of summer. But dreaming about them proved to be a much easier task than actually finding the perfect pair. I had almost given up my search completely when I stumbled upon this pair on the Asos site. They originally came with a ruffle on the ankle that I knew I could not pull off BUT THEY WERE ON SALE! AND IN MY SIZE. I just had to try.

I put all my hopes and dreams into them, placed my order, and spent a week anxiously anticipating their arrival, knowing that if they didn’t fit I’d be crushed. But guess what? THEY FIT! PERFECTLY! I cut off the ruffle from the bottom so they are now a trendy cropped length and boom, we were in business!! My fashion dreams were finally coming true. I was overjoyed!

With the millions of outfits I had already built in my mind serving as inspiration, I decided to keep my first ever overall outfit on the simpler side, sticking to my all time favorite color scheme; good ole B&W. I paired the overalls of my dreams with a tight fitting, plain white, crew neck tee. The simplicity of the shirt/overalls combo allowed my accessories to do the talking, matching my go-to checked Vans with a gingham bandana. As for jewelry, I wore a gold XO necklace (my other new obsession) and simple hoop earrings (you all know I’m never one to wear a ton of jewelry but I’m trying my hardest I promise!!). I topped of the look by attempting (key word here) dramatic burgundy winged eyeliner.

And there it is, my first ever overall outfit! But don’t worry, I have a feeling you’ll be seeing these babies around a lot from here on out!

Xo,

Kate Day
